our history

Brushstrokes
has been serving Atlanta's gay & lesbian community since December 1, 1989. Mark Jackson opened the first Brushstrokes store in a 400 square foot storefront in the Alley at Virginia Highland. He rapidly outgrew this space and moved the store to it's current midtown location in Ansley Square. From 1992 until 1999, Brushstrokes expanded from 800 square feet to more than 4,200 square feet, occupying every available retail space in Ansley Square. We currently operate two distinctly different stores, Brushstrokes/Sensory Overload and Capulets/Brushstrokes Pleasures.
